Welcome to my ancestral family and their stories.  Rather than just listing names and dates, I have tried to tell their story in an attempt to “put meat on the bone”.  I include some historical perspective to help me and my family understand how world events may have effected them.  I have attempted to conduct original research where possible and tried to give sources for each statement made, however, that is not always possible, so I have cited other genealogists when I haven’t been able to verify their information.  I don’t always agree with what others have written, but I try to present the facts as I have found them and explain my conclusions.  I made every attempt to be accurate but, I am sure, mistakes are made.  Please contact me HERE if you find errors or wish to contribute information on members of my family.

I come from, predominately, German and English stock.  My father’s ancestors (RODEKOHR and PRAÜNER) emigrated from Germany in the mid 1800’s.  My mother’s side is more complicated.  Her father’s ancestors (MORROW), emigrated from Belfast, Ireland in 1844, but her mother’s ancestors, with numerous branches, are predominately English, with a few German Palatines (FLAGLER and KRANTZ) and a French Huguenot (COUTANT) mixed in.  The earliest arrival of my family to America that I have found so far is  Thomas GARDNER, to Cape Ann Colony, Massachusetts, in 1624.

The majority of my research has been concentrated on my families of: CLARK, to 1645, of Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut;  PAYSON, to 1613 in Nazing, Essex County, England,  PRAUNER or PRAEUNER, to about 1559 in Binselberg, Württemburg, Germany RODEKOHR, to 1550 in Gronau, Hannover, Germany; and WHITE, to 1768, possibly from Blandford, Hampden County, Massachusetts.   Some of the larger branches from these families are the families of: FLAGLER, to 1620 in Urphar, Weirtheim, Germany; FREYE, to 1720 in Drakenburg, Hannover, Germany; JOHNSON, to 1588 in Hartfordshire, England; KRANTZ, to 1664 in Fishborn, Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany; and RUSSELL, to 1680 of Nantucket, Massachusetts.  The list will grow as I update my website and continue my research.

Names are entered in Bold.  Surnames of relatives are CAPITALIZED.  Names and places are spelled as they were found in the source material.
