confirmed there on 17 April 1864.[2]
When he was young, he learned the miller handwork and
worked at
Mr. Kopps mill in Lindringen, close to Ohringen
for five years.[3]
Carl’s
sister,
Sabine
Rosina (PRAEUNER)
KETTERMAN and her husband, emigrated from Germany
and, in 1867, settled west of what is now Battle Creek, Madison County,
Nebraska.
Rosina’s
husband died in the winter of 1867-68, and, upon his
death,
Rosina wrote to her family in
