Johann Carl Julius RODECOURT

Johann Carl Julius7 RODECOURT (Julius Ernst6, Jobst Hinrich5, Jobst4, Justus3 RODECOURT, Johannes2 RODECORD, Jost1 RODEKORD) was born to Julius Ernst RODECOURT on 07 August 1738 at Drakenburg, Hannover, Germany,[1]  As Carl Julius, he wrote his will at Drakenburg on 12 August 1802, giving his oldest son, Johann Christian and his wife, everything that he owned, with instructions that his son makes certain provisions for the care of his father and his wife, and siblings.[2]  In 1828, he was named as Carl RODECURT in the death entry of his son, Christian, in the church records in Drakenburg.[3] 

Carl RODECURT was a Horseman in the Hannover Cavalry, possibly in a Light Horse Regiment.  About 1675, Carl married Dorothee LÜHRS.[4]  Church records also list her as Maria Dorothea LÜERßEN. [5]  The suffex “en” after a woman’s name usually indicates she is the unmarried daughter of --- .

Dorothea was born in 1734 and died 1 December 1800 in Drakenburg.[6]  Carl died 16 April 1816 in Drakenburg.[7] 

Children of Johann Carl Julius7 RODECOURT and Maria Dorothea (LÜERßEN) LÜHRS were as follows:[8]

i. Johann Friedrich8 RODECOURT[9] possibly died early as he is not listed in his father’s will

+ ii  Johann Christian Heinrich RODECURT, born 1765 at of Drakenburg, Hannover, Germany; married Adelheit DIERKS.

iv.  Daughter RODECOURT was mentioned in her father’s will of 12 August 1802, indicating that she had already received her “marriage-portion”.  A witness to the will for his wife, was Wilhelm BERGMANN.   

v. Anna Lucia RODECOURT was born 1772.  She died 1774.

+ vi. Johann Heinrich RODECOURT, born 29 Jul 1774 at Drakenburg, Hannover, Germany.  He married Ilse Dorothea Marie FINKE.

The father and his wife will eat, during his life, on the some table with the next generation and they have to take care of him and everything he need, also four Reichsthaler money every year. Also one sheep, the best one, and every year one sheep and lamb from the farm. And he will help so much as he can. 4. When he or his wife die, so has te survivar the justification for all goods and chattels Blu-menthal den 19. of November 1795.  To testifiy: Karl Julius Rodekohr, Johann Christian Heinrich Rodekohr, Georg Heinrich Schlüter (for his wife), Wilhelm Bergmann (for his wife), Johann Heinrich Rodekohr, Wilhelm Fiögen, Ludewig Schünemann als Witness.  Bürgermeister and Rath F. Wellner (he was from 1787-1816 Bürgermeister from Drakenburg).
