Johann Christian Heinrich8 RODECURT (Johann Carl Julius7, Julius Ernst6, Jobst Hinrich5, Jobst4, Justus3 RODECOURT, Johannes2 RODECORD, Jost1 RODEKORD) was born in 1765 to Johann Carl Julius RODECOURT and Maria Dorothea LÜHRS (LÜERßEN, LÜERSSEN) in Drakenburg, District of Nienburg, Hannover, Germany.[1]  As Christian RODECURT, he was a Sergeant in the Hannover Cavalry, the same regiment in which his father served, possibly in a Light Horse Regiment,.  On 12 August 1802, as Wachmeister (Master of the Guard/Police) Johann Christian Heinrich and his wife Adelheit DIERKS(DIERKSEN/DIRKS) are listed in his fathers will, giving him all of his father’s property, stipulating certain provisions be made for his father and mother’s care during their lives, as well as that of his siblings.[2]  Church records in Drakenburg also show that Christian’s wife was also called Adelheit DIERKS, born in Lesum, District of Blumenthal, Bremen, Germany, which is on the northern outskirts of city of Bremen.  Her parents were Johann DIERKS and Anne von GARTEN.  Johann was a Battle Supervisor or Battle Guard (Schlachtaufsehers).[3]  This may mean that he had ranking position in the military.  Christian may have met Adelheit as the result of his military service.

RODEKOHR family tradition gives Adelheit’s last name as von ILTEN,[4] however, the von ILTEN surname does not appear anywhere in primary or secondary documents that have been found.[5]  According to RODEKOHR family tradition, Christian was a “Schreiber” (a secretary), Citizen and Tax Collector.[6]

Christian and Adelheit had at least six children, four sons and two daughters. Christian died 15 January 1828 in Drakenburg.[7]
