Carl Friedrich Dietrich10 RODEKOHR (Johann Friedrich Christoph9 RODEKOHR, Johann Christian8 RODECURT, Johann Carl Julius7, Julius Ernst6, Jobst Hinrich5, Jobst4, Justus3 RODECOURT, Johannes2 RODECORD, Jost1 RODEKORD) was born to Johann Friedrich Christoph RODEKOHR and Dorothee Marie Louise FREYE in Lafayette County, Missouri on 17 January 1847[1] and was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Concordia, Lafayette County, on 14 February.[2]  

In 1860, as Charles, he was living with his parents at Lexington, Freedom Township, Lafayette County, Missouri,[3] and in 1870, as Carl, in Concordia, Freedom Township.[4]

On 1 October 1876, Karl RODEKOHR married Dorthea Sophia Marie OETTING,[5] at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Concordia, Lafayette County, Missouri.[6]   In 1880, in Concordia, Charles, a carpenter, is living with wife, Sophia; daughters Eleanora, age 2; and Alice, age 4/12.  Boarding with them is Louis OETTING, age 22, a dry goods merchant,[7] a brother of Sophie.   In 1900, Corder Village, Dover Township, Lafayette County, Charles, age 52, a carpenter, married 24 years, calculated in 1876, is living with wife, Sophia, age 45, born in Missouri, having given birth to seven children, six of whom were living.   Those children, all born in Missouri, are:  Ella, age 21; Allice, age 20; Mary, age 17; Clara, age 14; Emily, age 11; and Walter, age 5.[8]  By 1910, Karl RHODECOHR [sic] and wife Sophia have moved to 3134 Water Street, Los Angeles Township, Los Angeles County, California, with children: Eleanore, age 31; Claira, age 23; Emilie, age 21; and Walther, age 15.[9]  In January of 1920, Carl and Sophia RODEKOHR are living at 3134 Water St., Los Angeles, with their children Marie, Clara, Emily and Walter.[10]  In 1930, Carl and Sophia RODICOR [sic] are still at 3134 Water Street.  No children are living with them.[11]  Carl died on 13 March 1933.[12] 

Dorthea Sophia Marie OETTING was born 29 November 1854 in Missouri[13] to Diedrich OETTING and Dorothea EHLERS.[14]  She died 19 September 1941, in Los Angeles.[15]

Children of Carl Friedrich Dietrich10 RODEKOHR and Dorthea Sophia Marie OETTING were as follows:

i.    Eleanore (Ella)11 RODEKOHR was born on 7 June 1878 at Missouri.[16]  At age 21 as Ella, she is living with her parents in Corder, Lafayette County, Missouri.[17]  At age 31, as Eleanora, she is living with her parents in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.[18]   She died on 7 April 1915 at age 36.[19]

ii.    Alice Sophia RODEKOHR was born on 12 January 1880 in Missouri.[20]  She married Charles John WESTMEYER about 1904.  In 1910, Charles and Alice R., married six years, are farming at St. Francois Township, St. Francois County, Missouri with children: Walter P, age 5; Florence M., age 3; Carl H., age 2; Juanita S, and 3/12; and Phillip WESTMEYER, age 66, Charles’ uncle.[21]    Chas J. and Alice are still farming at St. Francois Township, with children: Walter, age 14; Florence, age 13; Carl, age 11; Juanita, age 9; Erma, age 8; Herman, age 7; Louise, age 3 9/12; Lillian, age 1 9/12; and Philip, age 73, Charles’ uncle.[22]  In 1930, farming at St. Francois, are Charlie, Alice R., Walter, Carl, Juanita, Erma, Herman, Louise, and Lillian.[23]  She died 27 November 1977.[24] 

Charles John WESTMEYER was born 16 March 1877.  In 1918, Charles registered for the Draft.  His address was RFD #1, Farmington, St. Francois, Missouri.  He was described as being of medium height and build with blue eyes and dark hair.[25]  Charles died in March of 1969.[26]

Children of Alice Sophia RODEKOHR and Charles John WESTMEYER, all born in Missouri, are as follows:

i.   Walter P. WESTMEYER, born, calculated, in 1905.

ii.  Florence M. WESTMEYER, born, calculated, in 1907.

iii. Carl H. WESTMEYER, born, calculated, in 1908.

iv. Juanita S. WESTMEYER born, calculated, in February of 1910.[27]

v.  Erma WESTMEYER, born, calculated, in 1912.

vi. Herman WESTMEYER, born, calculated, in 1913.

vii. Louise WESTMEYER, born, calculated, in  April 1916

viii. Lillian WESTMEYER, born, calculated, in April 1918.[28]

 iii.    Marie (Mary) RODEKOHR was born in 3 August 1882[29] in Missouri.[30]  As an adult of age 27[31] and 37,[32] she is living with her parents in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.  She married Otto John BERGEMANN in 1923.   In 1930, Otto J. and Marie B. are farming in Orange, Orange County, California.[33]   According to family tradition, she died in September 1979 at age 97,[34] however there is a death record for a Mary M. Bergemann, born 18 August 1884, died 15 July 1867 in Orange, Orange County.[35] 

Otto John BERGEMANN was born on 24 April 1873 in Wisconsin.  He died in Orange on 24 August 1953 at age 80.  His mother’s maiden name was CONRAD.[36]  No evidence of children has been found. 

iv.    Clara Caroline RODEKOHR was born on 12 February 1886 in Missouri.[37]  In 1920, at age 33, she is living with her parents in Los Angeles, Los Angels County, California.[38]  Family history indicates that she married a Gus BERGEMANN,[39] however I find no record of this or a Gus BERGEMANN that could be associated in the area.  In about 1828, she married Julius Emil BERGEMANN and in 1930, as Julius E. and Clara C., they were ranching on a citrus grove in Orange, Orange County, California.[40]  She died on 30 March 1980 at Orange Co., California, at age 94.[41]

Julius Emil BERGEMANN was born on 2 August 1887 in Wisconsin.[42]  In 1900, he is living with his parents, Edward BERGEMANN and Margaret CONRAD[43] in Orange, Orange County, California.  Edward is a fruit grower.[44]  It is probable that Julius and Otto John BERGEMANN, husband of Marie (Mary) RODEKOHR, are brothers, as their mother’s maiden name is CONRAD, but early census’ that may show both in the same family has not  been found.

         No evidence of children has been found. 

v. Emilie (Emily) Magdalena RODEKOHR was born 2 October 1888 in Alma, Lafayette County, Missouri. and was baptized on the 12th.[45]    She married Leon SIMPSON about 1928.  In 1930, Leon and Emily M. lived in Alhambra, San Gabriel Township, Los Angeles County, California with their children, Thelma M., age 2; and Donald L, 6 months.   

Children of Emilie (Emily) Magdalena RODEKOHR and Leon SIMPSON include:

i. Thelma M SIMPSON was born, calculated, in 1928.

ii. Donald L. SIMPSON was born, calculated, in October of 1929. [46] 

vi. Amalia Elizabeth Anna RODEKOHR was born on 22 February 1892 and died on 22 March 1892 at one month of age.[47]

vii. Walter John Heinrich RODEKOHR was born on 28 November 1894 in Missouri.[48]  He married Martha Andraea (--?--).[49]    In 1920, at age 25, he is living with his parents in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California  The census indicates that he is married, however no wife is listed.[50]  He was probably a railroad employee as his Social Security number was issued through the Railroad Board prior to 1951.  He died on 10 June 1979.[51]
