An historical reference states that they bought land in or near St. Louis, St.
Louis County, Missouri, where they lived for three years,[7]
however, if they arrived at the port of New Orleans in December 1846, traveled
up the Mississippi River and were married in Lafayette County in April of 1847,
they couldn’t have lived in St. Louis for three years.
