There are two newspaper articles in a
scrapbook kept by
Bessie (WHITE)
MORROW, daughter
of
John Wilbur, one, a marriage notice, the
other, an obituary, for
Henry M. ROGERS.
Above both articles are
handwritten notes “Brother of
Wilbur WHITE”
and along the side of the obituary is a handwritten note “H.
ROGERS was
H. WHITE,
son of John
WHITE.
The obituary states “He was
the adopted son of
Mr. and Mrs.
L. D. ROGERS,
who took him an orphan when an infant . . .”
The information in the
obituary would put
Henry M. (WHITE)
ROGERS’ year of
birth as 1854.[2]
At the age of three, in 1857,
Henry M. WHITE
was adopted by the
L. D.
ROGERS
family.
Left unanswered is -
WHY?
To add to the intrigue, in 1910, widower
Adelbert Z.
[sic].
WHITE,
after the death of his wife,
Carrie, is living in
On 17 March 1880,
Henry
married Dell
(Della) BARKER
at the residence of her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
E. I. BARKER
of Sandwich,
