Clarissa WHITE

Clarissa3 White (John2, William1 WHITE) was born to John WHITE and Thankful CLARK, 0n 22[1] August 1848 in Granger, Allegany County, New York.[2]  She lived with her parents through their moves to Ashbury, Northville Township, La Salle County, Illinois [3], and to Sterling, Tampico Township, Whiteside County, Illinois.  In 1870, she is a school teacher in Sterling.[4] 

Clarissa was married to William SPAULDING on 04 February 1878 in Whiteside County.[5]  This was William’s third marriage.  The first was to Eliza Bently on 20 March 1853, and the second to Margaret Hamilton on 10 June 1858.[6] 

In 1880, William and Clara  are living in Corning Township, Adams County, Iowa.  Two of William’s daughters from his second marriage are living with them: Viola (Minnie?), age 15; and Lizzie, age 12.  Clarissa’s sister, Emily (Emma) Elizabeth (WHITE) DIR is living in Corning also.[7]  In 1900, Clara L., a widow, is living in Princeton City, Bureau County, Illinois with her sons, Max, born July 1881; and Arthur, born October 1887.  She had one child that died.[8]  By 1910, Clara  is a widow, living with her twenty-three year old son, Arthur SPAULDING, in Locust Grove Township, Guadalupe County, New Mexico.  Her brother in law, Joseph DIR, widowed, is living in the dwelling next to her.[9]   More information could not be found.

Children of Clarissa2 WHITE and William SPAULDING, were as follows:[10]

i. William Maxon3 SPAULDING was born on 13 July 1881.

ii. Flossie Thankful SPAULDING, a twin to John, was born on 6 October 1886; died on 11 Oct 1887 at age 1.[11]

iii. John Arthur SPAULDING, a twin to Flossie, was born on 6 Oct ober1886.
